CPJ will collect no personal information about you when you visit our web site unless you voluntarily provide that information. We do collect the information that a web browser and web server need to communicate, such as time of access, page accessed, type of browser, computer platform, IP address, and referring page.
Personal Information. We collect personal information that you may volunteer while using our electronic services, such as by making an online donation, purchasing resources or sending us email. We do not collect information about our visitors from other sources, such as public records or entities, or private organizations. We do not disclose your personal data to other organizations except as specified below, under Information Exchange/Disclosure.
Information that we collect from order/donation forms and emails includes: Name, street address, city, state, zip code, country, phone and fax numbers, email address, credit card number, expiration date, cardholder's name.
Information Confidentiality. CPJ is the sole owner of the information collected at cpjustice.org. Any personal information collected will be used internally for purposes of membership, development, civic education or a similar cause. If you choose to provide us with personal information -- such as in an email or by filling out a form with your personal information and submitting it to us through our web site -- we use that information to process your transaction and/or respond to your question or request. We require all employees, interns, trustees, and others with access to our files (such as academic institutions or professional companies providing services for us) to keep membership files confidential. We do not store any confidential information (such as addresses, phone numbers or password-protected information) on our web server.
Information Exchange/Disclosure. As a matter of policy, CPJ does not sell or otherwise distribute its postal mailing lists to third parties. Occasionally, CPJ receives requests to sell, exchange, or share mailing lists (email or postal) for the promotion of conferences or similar causes. If the responsible executive officer deems the exchange or distribution of mailing lists to be legitimate in a particular instance, he/she must receive authorization from the trustees' Executive Committee before releasing the list. CPJ members and donors may request that we withhold their mailing information from such list exchanges. To do so, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. In the subject field, type "Mailing List Opt Out" and provide your name, email address, and postal address.
Email Addresses. When you provide us your email address, we will not rent, sell, or exchange your email address with a third party for any purpose. You may unsubscribe to any of our email newsletters by sending an unsubscribe request to the email address at the end of each newsletter.
Donations and Purchases. Online giving and purchase through cpjustice.org is strictly permission-based. You control the use of your name, your personal information, and your donation/payment. We use the information you provide about yourself when making an online donation/purchase only to process that transaction. No other information is shared with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete the transaction.
Data Security. Information obtained via online forms is encrypted, using industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. An SSL connection ensures privacy, authentication and message integrity.
Children's Privacy. It is our policy to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and all other applicable laws. To protect your privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identify before making corrections or releasing your information for review.
